Goldie Story Contest Have you checked out the Goldie Story Contest yet? You should, because it looks like lots of fun!  Hosted by PattyMac, it involves contests for different topics using Goldies. Currently, there is a contest for "Sing Me a Song" where you make a  song out of GoldToken goldies. They sure have some cool entries entered on this board! Even if you don't want to enter the contests, check this board out for lots of enjoyable entertainment by subscribing (check the little subscribe box on the board) and be prepared to be entertained by the imagination of the contestants! I suggested that I share an Australian Animal with members each newsletter because there are so many unique animals here other than the koala and kangaroo. The first one I have chosen is the quokka. You might think of a quokka as a small looking kangaroo but rather tiny and much cuter. Quokkas give birth just 27 days after mating. The tiny, pink, hairless and blind joey then finds its way to its mother pouch where it stays for around six months. If the joey doesn't survive, the mother can give birth to another one shortly after because she has others in her womb in a suspended state of development as back-up in case tragedy befalls the older joey. Like many macropods, when threatened, quokka mothers may expel their joeys from their pouched leaving them squealing on the ground. A chasing predator is attracted by this giving the mother time to get away. It sounds harsh but it's better than both mother and baby ending up as prey. Rottnest Island near Perth in Western Australia has the largest population of quokkas in the world. They also exist on the Naval Base on Garden Island. I believe it is a $1,000 fine if you hit a quokka with your car on Garden Island. And it's another good reason why quokkas shouldn't be harassed on Rottnest Island. Quokkas are herbivores that eat a variety of grasses and shrubs. When food is scarce they can draw on stored fat in their tails for energy to get them through. As travelers to the island might know, fresh water is in short supply on Rottnest Island so it's just as well that quokkas can survive on very little of it lasting up to a month without a drink. Around 10,000 quokkas live on Rottnest Island today. Very small populations also survive in the mainland's south-west forests such as those near Northcliffe. Overall the species is listed as vulnerable due to being killed by feral animals (cats and foxes), altered fire patterns and habitat loss. Quokkas, on average, can live for about ten years. They are able to breed from about eighteen months of age. On the mainland, female quokkas are able to produce about seventeen offspring over a lifetime, with two joeys being born each year. However on Rottnest Island, with a shorter breeding season, quokkas usually only give birth to one offspring per year.

October's game of the month is Mexican Train(Fast)! Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament by signing up today for The Game of the Month - Oct 2020 - Mexican Train(Fast) Tournament!  In this variant of Dominoes, in the first round, the player who draws the 4-4 bone plays first. In the second round, the player with a 3-3 does, and so on, up to the last round where the player with a 0-0 plays first. After 5 rounds, the game ends. During the first turn of a round, each player is able to play as many successive bones as they are able to place. Playing on other player's trains is not allowed during the first turn. September's winner is: Shrimp Fried Rice
Ingredients • 1 lb shrimp detailed and deveined • 3 larges eggs lightly beaten • 2 tablespoon sesame oil • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil • 4 cups cooked rice • 3 tablespoon soy sauce • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 teaspoon pepper • 2 cups frozen peas and diced carrots blend• Green Onions sliced Instructions 1. In a large skillet, pan fry the shrimp and carrots and peas blend in the skillet with both of the oils for about 3-5 minutes or until soft. 2. Slide the vegetables and shrimp to the side and pour in the eggs. 3. Scramble the eggs. 4. Then stir in the rice, soy sauce, salt, and pepper and mix with the eggs, shrimp and vegetables. 5. Stir for a few minutes until rice is heated through. 6. Top with sliced green onions. I played first on itsyourturn but was attacked in several games by rude players. One of them told me he had a bunch of accounts which is totally cheating and I found out lots of people have double and triple accounts on other game places. When I wrote iyt about it they blew me off. I won’t play there anymore. That’s when I found GoldToken. They don’t allow that here. GoldToken has all the other sites beat all the way around. I like the tournaments here and feel I do pretty well. At least nobody gets to the top by cheating here. So when I win, it’s a good feeling I did well. I like strategy games mostly because they make you think harder and GoldToken has all the best ones. hoof hearted
Best New Game Design October's contest is for the Best New Game Design submitted throughout the month. You can include your own graphics, opt to use graphics already available on GoldToken, or if chosen as the winning entry, possibly have your graphics designed by our professional graphic artists. All entries will be reviewed for playability and judged by GoldToken's Graphic Arts team. The winning game will be announced in November's newsletter. Winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two-month Silver membership. This is your chance to see your new game added to GoldToken's collection of games (as long as it is feasible to code)! There are a number of steps involved in creating a new board game. A new game design can be a variation of a current game or entirely new, but it must be original and not a game found anywhere else. Start with variations of games that you love, that you loved as a child etc. Work out what makes these games fun, what’s wrong with these games, what could be better. Look at all different kinds of games from many different genres. This is the most fun part of game design. We hope you enjoy planning your entry!
