If you're searching for new ideas for meals, pot lucks, entertaining or just plain comfort, check out this board! Each month there is a themed contest and players enter their recipes, with profile tokens and the ability to pick a personal icon from our vast selection going to the winner each month. Players are welcome to share other recipes on this board, but please note in your post if it is NOT for the contest. We all have our favorite recipes, so why not drop by and share yours so others may enjoy your favorite!

What's in Your Pantry? - Players continue to come up with new ideas of what goes into a food pantry by taking turns posting an item alphabetically. If you'd like to join in, please post your response as a new comment each time. From garam masala powder to peas, there are so many possible ideas. Sometimes imagination helps. Or Google. Best Recipe Contest

February's winner is: Bean w/Bacon Soup

• Submitted by fatdaddy

Ingredients -
6 quart (6l) cooking vessel
2lb (1kg) dried Great Northern beans
12oz (1/3kg) bacon, fried and cut into 1 inch pieces
1 large cooking onion
1/2 lb (1/4kg) carrots
6 stalks of celery
1 small potato, pealed
2 toes of garlic
4 bay leaves
1t black pepper
1t sea salt

Sort, rinse and soak beans
Puree all vegetables
Add everything to the cooking vessel filling remaining void with water
Bring to a boil, stir
Cover and simmer for 4 hours stirring every half hour

Enjoy with Pumpernickel or your favorite dark bread

We would like to say to precious for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.


1. How'd you choose your name for GT?

• I chose the name "Precious" not just as a nickname, but as a profound reflection of life itself. Everything around us holds a special value—friends who stand by us, family who love us unconditionally, pets who bring joy to our days, and the cherished memories of loved ones who have passed. Each moment, each relationship, and each experience is a reminder of how precious life truly is. Nature, with its breathtaking beauty and intricate details, adds another layer of significance to this name. It serves as a daily reminder to honour and appreciate all that life offers, no matter how big or small. In embracing the name "Precious," I commit to valuing every aspect of life and treasuring the bonds that enrich our existence.

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?

• My favourite games are: 1-4-5 Senet, Hit and Run Senet, Tourne-Case and Backgammon in that order

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?

• I live in Australia (the land down under) in sunny Queensland (the sunshine state) to name a few sights (there are so many) tourists should definitely see
  • Great Barrier Reef: the world’s largest coral reef system, offering incredible snorkelling , diving, and marine experiences.
  • Gold Coast: Famous for its beautiful beaches, surf culture, and vibrant nightlife, the Gold Coast is also home to theme parks like Dreamworld, Movie World, and Sea World.
  • Fraser Island: The largest sand island in the world, famous for its stunning beaches, freshwater lakes, and lush rainforests.
  • Daintree Rainforest: One of the oldest rainforests in the world, the Daintree is a biodiversity hotspot, offering hiking trails, wildlife spotting, and an opportunity to learn about Aboriginal culture.
  • Mount Tamborine: Located in the Gold Coast hinterland, Mount Tamborine is known for its scenic views, wineries, and rainforest walks.

4. What hobbies do you have?

• No hobbies, as such, just love playing my games on GoldToken

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• I have no children, just my fur babies

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?

• I am retired. Only had 2 jobs in my working life;: Sunny Queen Egg Farms for 29.5 years, left school after year 10. Left school on Friday started working straight away on the following Monday as a factory hand working my way up to executive secretary. And then as a book keeper for a beauty company for about 8 years.

7. Any pets?

• I have always had pets through my life. At the moment I have a kelpie cross border collie (Dante) Sadly I had to put my little girl Kaiya (Bull Mastiff cross Shar-Pei) to sleep January this year.

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50? Male or Female?

• I am female over 60.

9. Favorite food?

• Favourite foods: mild curries, Chinese, meat pies

10. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• I have never traveled outside of Australia.

11. Favorite season?

• Favourite season: Winter

12. If you could meet anyone (living or dead) in the world, who would it be?

Would love to see again my mum and all my beloved pets, while they all live with me still in my heart , would love to see them all one last time
