• Player Banners

Do you have your right side banners un- on your game sheet preferences? If not, you might want to and see the different personalized banners of GoldToken players on there created by GoldToken's graphic team to honor players.

To turn on your right side banners on your game sheet, go to Options, click on Edit my Preferences then Gamesheet (at the left) and scroll down to make sure your Disable right-panel gamesheet ads is unclicked, scroll down and Apply.

How do you go about getting a personalized banner? I guess the squirrels know and they're not talking! But keep an eye on them as more are added. You might just see your name on a banner created just for you!

• Hardest Working Club President

In June, we celebrated Club Day and the players who make clubs such an amazing part of GoldToken. Nominations were taken for "Hardest Working Club President". The votes are in! Hillbilly, it is a well-deserved win with all your hard work you do for your clubs! You are truly a wonderful club president and because of your hard work, your clubs win!!

All of our club presidents are wonderful and hard working and deserve recognition as such, but we want to recognize that special club president on occasion and this is that occasion! Thank you for your dedication and hard work you put in for your members and for GoldToken!

• Hardest Working Club

A well deserved honor and goes out to club owner RabidWolff of the Wolf Pack and every one of her members of the team who work so hard to make it the club it is!

1st Stop Information

Have you ever found a misspelling in your Hangman game?

If so, we'd appreciate it if you reported it by posting on the { Board: Hangman } discussion board. Include your game number, which you can link by posting inside curly brackets, like this: { Game#12345 } and which list the word or phrase is in (for example, "Anything Goes" or "Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll"). We have a popular game here called Hangman with a whole suite of games such as Hangman, Thematic Hangman, Kickback Hangman and Kickback Thematic Hangman.

As the creator of the game, I am responsible for all of the various word and phrase lists. I am, as should be obvious, only human and the lists contain errors in spelling and punctuation.

We created a Discussion Board simply called { Board: Hangman } with the subtitle Game: Hangman - Don't get your cowboy hanged! Discussion about Hangman.

On this board, which I monitor carefully, people will let me know when they run across errors in the words and phrases and then I go and assemble a list of these and we on the site update the lists twice a year.

When I confirm an error the player who lets me know is awarded an Eagle Eye Token for their personal page.

I created the first one:

but then our team of graphics designers created 18 others!

We have a lot of contributors, but without a doubt, THE single most observant and prolific of these is RabidWolff of the Wolf Pack who has just won the most recently created 19th token and has become the champion of reporters of mistakes on the lists.

She has been quite helpful in the search for and correction of errors and misteaks , and I not only congratulate her, I thank her very much for her contributions!!

Perhaps some of you can start finding errors as well. We have LOTS of Eagle-Eye Tokens just waiting to be spread around!

Best Recipe Contest

We had a tie for June! June's winners are: karynsong's Favorite Salad and Tuna Pasta Salad

• Submitted by karynsong and Jools!

karynsong's Favorite Salad
1 Stalk of Romaine Heart
1 C Cherry Tomatoes
1 Haas avocado cut in bite size pieces
2 Hard boiled eggs
1 Tbsp Capers
1/4 C Toasted pecans, chopped
2 Tbsp Cherry infused dried cranberries (Craisins)
2 Tbsp Cilantro
2 Inner ribs of celery with leaves chopped
1 Tbsp Salad Supreme
Bob Big Boys Country Ranch dressing or the dressing of your choice.

Toss all together, adding dressing just before serving.
Sometimes I add chopped chicken or other protein.

Tuna Pasta Salad
8oz of fusilli or farfalle (spiral or bow) pasta cooked and cooled
2x tins tuna, drained
1x tin sweetcorn, drained (I sometimes use sweetcorn with bell peppers)
3-4 tblsp mayonnaise

Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Ready to serve.

We would like to say to . harmonydawn for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.


1. What brought you to GoldToken, and how'd you choose your name for GT?

• I had played on sites where you play basically against computers (I am very social) and that didn't meet my needs ... I enjoy the relationships I have developed all over the world... my GT name is actually chosen based on my own name ... my name is Melody Dawn ... I wasn't comfortable years and years ago putting my personal name on anything that I thought was public ... so Harmony came from Melody and Dawn is actually my middle name.

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?

• I enjoy playing games and learning to play games I have never played or even heard of (lol) like I said also was the personal relationships I have been able to acquire ... There are several that I enjoy All Aboard, Acey Deucey , I have just learned Dominos and have just started Fives and Three's .. I play others but enjoy these the most.

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?

• I live in California .... the places I love the most are Yosemite (awe inspiring) and the Coastal Redwoods are amazing when you think that some of the trees existed when Jesus walked the world

4. What hobbies do you have?

• The two things I enjoy besides GoldToken ... are Genealogy and Crochet

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• Two children and 4 grandchildren

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?

• I am retired but I was an elementary school teacher ... there were a few years where I owned and worked in a Craft and Hobby store

7. Any pets?

• Over the years I have owned dogs ... currently I am in the process of unpacking my things in my new house ... when I finish I plan on buying a kitten (unknown photo)

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50? Male or Female?

• I am an over 50 female

9. Favorite food? (Do you have a recipe you'd like to share?)

• Almost any Mexican food ... I could live on tacos and burritos for ever including breakfast burritos.
• A Hungarian Goulash that is fairly easy: 6 medium onions, 1 pound of stew meat, 1/4 cup of Paprika (Not smoked paprika) and yes 6 onions and 1/4 cup paprika... slice the onions and (ooops forgot the butter or margarine a quarter to a half a cup) in a stew pot add the butter and the onions... cook the onions until they have completely turned into a fluid state (who knew you could basically melt onions lol) then add the stew meat and cook until the meat is tender and cooked through and the paprika. Serve it over noodles with a dab of sour cream (to your own liking) mmm some of the amount of ingredients but together is really good ... try you will really like it. One of my stepsons refused to eat onions in any form ... I had his brother keeping him outside while I cut the onions... he was also picky about what he ate, I also added the sour cream before we ate it, I had told his brother NOT to mention the onions ... he kept his mouth the first time BUT the second time and his brother saying how much he loved it he couldn't help himself and started laughing ... he went on to say that it was full of onions then his brother pushed the plate away. As an adult he called me one day and asked me for the recipe ... lol and turned out to be one of his favorite dish and would tell the story about Goulash with those he made it for.

10. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• My X was Guamanian so I went to Guam once ... that trip turned out to include the worst typhoon they had ever had Typhoon Omar... for the first time in history the eye went right over the island which wasn't an easy thing considering how small the island is - 30 miles long and 1 to 8 1/2 wide.

11. If you could be anywhere right now, where would that be?

• On a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

12. Favorite season?

• Favorite season when I was young it was summer (beach weather) now it is spring.

13. Favorite movie? Favorite TV show?

• Just watched the New Top Gun it was amazing. My favorite TV show is the reboot of Magnum PI ... it was canceled over money and the millions of people who loved that show have started a protest and it has been very huge (including a post on the huge screen at Time Square ... we will see soon if our efforts were successful, it is looking like we have been successful

14. If you could meet anyone (living or dead) in the world, who would it be ?

• President Trump he has made a big impact not just the US but the world. The other person I would like to meet in person would be Martin Luther King ... he too was extremely influential in the world.

I started playing at GoldToken way back in March 2000 when the site was still in its infancy. I used to play chess on IYT and one of my opponents at the time was Mary (aka Badger who told me of this site. There were very few games at that time but one was chess. There were also very few members and sometimes I was the only person on the site. GoldToken has really taken off since then with many new games being added over the years. My favourite games are of course chess and a few of the chess variants. I also like dominoes and variants and also whist and more recently diagonal duel.
I live in Edinburgh which is in Scotland with my wife who also plays on the site under the name B*Elanna. I play chess a lot and also enjoy walking (short distances) and ten pin bowling.

If you decide to enter the world of blogging, you should decide what kind of blog you want your blog to be. What do you want to write about? Are you going to write about many things or something specific? Decide how often you are going to add entries - every day, once a week, once a month, etc.
Once you have decided what you are going to write about, you need to think about how you are going to write it or enter it into your blog, be it by text, by pictures or even external links. A great blog will take advantage of all of the above things. Your blog story or viewpoint can be enhanced and made much more enjoyable and interesting to read by the use of pictures and links.

Write about what you are passionate about, write about what you know and make sure you know what you are writing about. For the more serious bloggers, be aware that you won't be taken very seriously if your blog is full of grammar and spelling mistakes. So make sure you spellcheck.
