GoldToken's Monthly News

• Join now to play in GoldToken's 2022 Winter Olympics!

You are invited to play in GoldToken’s premier winter tournament, the 2022 Winter Olympic Games!

This is a set of automated tournaments pitting player against player and team against team. Each player chooses which game types to play and how many games to play.

If interested, please join The GoldToken's Olympics Master Club! Click the link and look for the "invitations" box on the right-hand side of your screen, then click "yes" to join. If on a mobile device, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “yes” to join. That's all you need to do to declare your desire to play - no need to send a PM or post a message on the discussion board. Please stay in the Master Club until the games begin.

Note: If you have joined the club in the past, you will need to re-join. The club is emptied prior to each new Olympics set-up.

Team assignments will be made in the coming weeks, and you'll be invited to join your specific team's club then. At that time, you will be able to sign up for the games you wish to play. Players can sign up for as few or as many games as they care to, subject to membership restrictions. The first batch of games will begin in January (exact date to be announced soon).

During the month of December, the discussion board hosts are offering Christmas profile tokens! If a player wins a contest or participates in an event on one of the boards, then the player may choose which Christmas token they want. See the individual discussion boards for information on how to earn these beautiful tokens. There are 15 of them to choose from, and you'll find them in the discussion board headers!

Best Recipe Contest

November's winner is: Praline Banana Nut Bread

• Submitted by **Lover of Darkness**

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons 2% milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup ripe mashed banana (2 to 3 medium)
1 cup pecans, chopped

Praline Sauce
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup Imperial Sugar Light Brown Sugar
1 cup pecan, chopped

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in milk and vanilla.
Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with mashed bananas, beating well after each addition. Fold in pecans. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Make praline sauce by melting butter and sugar over medium-high heat. Boil for one minute.
Spoon small amounts of glaze over bread and sprinkle with pecans. Repeat multiple times until all sauce and pecans are used. Let cool completely.

• Recipe must be original and have never been posted on the Cutting Board DB before.

In addition, this month's winner will receive a random Cutting Board token that they don't already have and everyone who enters will receive the Cutting Board Participation Token if they don't already have it. During December, the EVERYONE who enters a recipe will also receive their choice of one of the new Christmas tokens.

The Pony Up! board - Did you know there are numerous towns in the US that have the name of Turkey? I knew there were people that deserve that name (insert here) but didn't know about the town names. Several include Turkey, Ohio, Turkey, N.C., Turkey, W Va., and Turkey, Texas. Just a bit of trivia found on the Pony Up! board.

Testimonial Of The Month

GoldToken has been my games site of choice for 17 years this month. I can’t believe it has been so long! When I first joined, as with so many others I was introduced by an opponent on IYT. The variety of games here was an instant big plus for me (and the number of different games just continues to grow and grow). As a middle-aged Englishman I have always enjoyed the traditional games such as dominoes and whist and was just beginning out with backgammon so to find them all available here was fantastic. I tend to now also play variants of those games and am also a fan of the Shake games (I still have the board/dice game Yahtzee at home which I got one Christmas as a teenager!). Cribbage has become my favourite game though since joining GT having never previously played it. Having always played sport I have to confess to being reasonably competitive and I mostly stick to tournaments, particularly the Olympics, on here. I’ll have a sneaky peek 🫣 at the Best Players and Ladder tables now and again to see how I compare 😀 but I enjoy playing with and learning from the better players. You are never too old to learn! I don’t mind chatting and getting to know about other players but completely understand those who just want to play and am happy with that approach too. It’s good to come across players local to me (even in the city where I used to work!) as well as those on the other side of the world and who knows, maybe one day I’ll get to meet one of them in person!
Finally I’d just like to say a massive thanks to you, the site admins and all of the club owners and helpers who have made this site one I just can’t live without 😀
