GoldToken's Monthly News

GoldToken's HTTPS is nearly finished

If you are using Chrome, please note that Google has decided to block access to sites that have not fully updated to https. GoldToken's code is mostly in place except the URL and a few changes to our Head to Head (HTH) game support. The URL updates will be finished tomorrow, August 7, 2018. So please rest assured that GoldToken is fully secure, we just haven't finished the https URL part.

However, because the URL updates are being added early, GoldToken's Head to Head (HTH) games will be unavailable for a few days until we complete that addition. Thank you for your patience!

GoldToken's 2018 Summer Olympics have begun

It's not too late to join - there are three batches of games still to come, plus the mystery games. If you'd like to play, please join The GoldToken's Olympics Master Club. Once you join, you will be assigned to a team club and receive an invite to that team. Then you'll be able to select the games you wish to play.

Game Of The Month

August's game of the month is Loop Trax! Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament by signing up today for The Aug 2018 - Game of the Month - Loop Trax Tournament!

In this variant of Trax, the game is won by the player whose track forms a loop (a continuous path of track that connects with itself) during that player's completed turn or during an opponent's completed turn in which the opponent's track does not also form a loop.

Best Recipe Contest

July's winner is: BBQ Pike Wrap

Where I fish, I often catch northern pike, but that's ok. I like nice meaty fish. This recipe is easy, tasty.

I fillet the pike with a fish knife the proper way & wash fish.
Wipe the shiny side of the aluminum foil with olive oil.
Place fish on the large piece of foil.
Rub fish with a lemon half.
Squeeze lemon juice out over fish.
Sprinkle fish with butter, herb de provence, Hungarian paprika, freshly grated pepper.
Put some fresh dill & a little fresh lavender on the fish, yes you heard me.

Wrap the ends up tight and grill only for 4 minutes each side. Don't overcook fish.

This will work for any fish I guess if you don't share my taste for pike.

I have done this with Halibut, then cut it up & put it on homemade poutine, don't laugh, it's delicious.

to GoldiLocks for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.

1. What brought you to GoldToken?

Actually, it was another player, hitman/Butch. I had played games with him on IYT, and he told me to come on over to play on GoldToken ....I never left!

How'd you choose your name for GT?

Since my hair is blonde, one of my bosses would call me Goldie and it was just expanded on to GoldiLocks

2. What interests you most on GT?

The friendships and to play games with people from all over the world, it's like having extended family around the globe. The one thing I've learned is that we are all alike in one way or another.

Favorite game here?

Any variant of Dominoes, I would love to see Mexican Train Dominoes on this site, (just throwing it out there Mecir, lol)

3. What state or country do you reside in?

New Jersey, USA

What in your state or country do you think tourists should definitely see?

The beaches in the summer, the farms in the fall, our ski slopes in the winter are the best and our blooming spring flowers in our open fields are spectacular. We do have casinos and amusement parks, but these are the places I would take a tourist.

4. What hobbies do you have?

Spending time with family and friends, reading, music, card and board games, trivia, going to the gym and just trying to find a happy medium 😊

5. Children? Grandchildren?

None

6. Do you work?

No, retired, November, 2016

What kind of work do/did you do?

I was a supervisor for the New York City Transit Authority, I loved my job but waking up at 2:30-3:00 am to travel into NYC was starting to take its toll after almost 31 years. I do eventually plan on working again, but this time it will be on my terms.

7. Any pets?

No, I'm always on the go ...it wouldn't be fair to a pet, also, my family and friends' pets are mine too, I'll pet-sit anytime.

9. What's the farthest you've been from home?

Mexico, Nova Scotia

10. If you could be anywhere right now where would that be?

Definitely the West Coast of the United States, I have family and friends there and I miss them so much....I visit them at least twice a year

Spring and Fall, not too hot, not too cold

12, Favorite movie?

Ordinary People, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Original), Airplane, Blazing Saddles

Actor?

I don't have a favorite actor per se, but I have favorite performances from movies I've watched....right now, I'd say Gary Oldman in "Darkest Hour" and Hugh Jackman in "The Greatest Showman".

Actress?

Same as actor, so with that said, I'll say Allison Janney in "I, Tonya" and Laurie Metcalf in "Lady Bird".

Song?

Too many, but if I have to pick one I'd say "On the Wings of Love" by Jeffrey Osbourne

Favorite TV show?

Blindspot, Discovery I.D; HGTV, Big Bang Theory, Sheldon and my current favorite Handmaids Tale....very disturbing on so many levels

I came to GoldToken 1/29/02 from It's Your Turn.
I have owned many clubs but because of GoldToken automatic no wiki tournaments, my players lost interest so I had to close all of them except THE CLUB. THE CLUB was established 7/12/02.
I am self employed but do make a living working with a major water purification company. I'm married with two grown children and five Grandchildren. I enjoy traveling and go to N. Carolina to visit my daughter and her family three or four times a year.
I enjoy the Fall season but you don't see much in the way of seasons in Florida.
My favorite TV show is coming back on the air in September after being cancelled by ABC a year ago. FOX picked up "Last Man Standing" with Tim Allen. Good move for FOX. I am very active in my church and love Jesus with all my heart, body and soul.

August's contest is the Best Nugget submitted throughout the month. All entries will be posted in a poll for voting, and the winner will be announced in next month's newsletter.

Winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two month Silver membership.

Nuggets articles give all the players an opportunity to write various tutorials, strategy guides, and other materials related to playing each of our many games, as well as general information about out various site features. Once approved, the new Nugget article will be added to the appropriate category for all the players to see.

Searching and sorting functionality is also available, allowing you to easily find what you are looking for.

Guest and Wood level players can submit one Nugget per month. Players with a Silver membership or higher can submit as many articles as they want.

When submitting articles, please be sure to only submit content that you have written yourself, or that you have a permission from its author to post here. Citations and links are obviously fine, as long as they do not lead to inappropriate content.

The end of the year is nearing.

All saved icons that have not been used will be put back into circulation. It's hard to see such cute icons just sitting and not being used. GoldToken is very generous on the number allotted, gives everyone that likes change to do so and to wear holiday icons to celebrate special occasions. I will let you know if and which icons I put back into circulation. This will not be done until January of 2019, so you still have time, just wanting everyone to remember those awesome icons you have in save.
