Game Of The Month

October's game of the month is Corner Checkers! Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament by signing up today for The Game of the Month - Oct 2018 - Corner Checkers Tournament!

In this variant of Checkers, the pieces are initially positioned in the corner of the board. Only pieces moved to the single square in the opposing corner are crowned into a king.

Best Recipe Contest

September's winner is: Chicken Casserole

• Submitted by ladyvic

Ingredients
6-8 Chicken legs or 2 Chicken breast or 4 thighs
4 oz. Sour Cream
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 sm. can mushrooms
1 box Stove top stuffing
2 Tbl. Butter

Directions
Boil Chicken, pull off meat and save 1 1/2 cups Broth. Melt butter in 8x8 casserole dish. Pour 1 1/2 cup Stuffing over butter. Add Chicken, mushrooms and salt & pepper to taste. In bowl, mix soup and sour cream together, then pour over chicken. Top with remaining Stuffing. Pour 1 1/2 cups broth over this.
Bake @ 350* for 45 mins.
( Feeds about 4 people. For more people add more chicken and sour cream only )

We had lots of fun on the Pony Up! discussion board last month. The limerick turned out awesome, and we played some "GT Family Feud" and a new game called "SO YOU WANT TO BE A GOLDEROAIRE" .
How Much Is That Doggie is a game where you would look for pictures of the GT members' pets that I posted by going to the profile and then to the photo albums. There are some really cute and special pets out there and believe me they were found faster than I thought they would be.
Right now we have a new animal to find a name for. Winner will get the Pony Up Board Winner Token for their profile. Send you entries (one per member) to me, PattyMac. We will put them up for a vote on 10/15.

We would like to say to Ellylover99 for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.



1. What brought you to GoldToken?

• Back in 2002 I played on another game site, there one of my friends told me about GoldToken and here I am...

How'd you choose your name for GT?

• Back when I started here I played under a different name because I was so into NASCAR racing, since my driver has retired and I barely watch anymore. I’ve changed lanes in 16 years so now ONE of my greatest passions is helping elephants. I was a dispatcher back in the day, and my dispatch # was 99 I’ve always used it on my emails and such, so I put together..... Ellylover99.

2. What interests you most on GT?

• My interests here are the sweet, wonderful people I have had the pleasure to be able to socialize with.. I’m a homebody since my illness and I have met some of the most funniest and caring people here. I’ve never had a bad experience, knock on wood or met a negative person.

Favorite game here?

• I love all the different types of games that are offered! As far as my favorite game? It has to be backgammon. I have been playing for 42 years so far, online and my game set here at home. But... I have gotten so addicted to the hangman variants, I love all the neat ways to play. But backgammon has been my JAM for sure.

3. What state or country do you reside in?

• I live in the SUNSHINE STATE, which if you didn’t know is Florida, in the greatest country I believe.... THE USA

What in your state do you think tourists should definitely see?

• Walt Disney World, our beautiful beaches, and our natural springs in northern Florida and The Ocala National Forest

4. What hobbies do you have?

• My hobbies are crafting. I have numerous interests like... rock painting, cross stitching, sea glass art, diamond painting, perler beads art and growing plants and flowers. I would die to be able to relearn how to knit and crochet... My Gram taught me at a very young age how, but I’ve forgotten how...

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• I do not have children or grandchildren, but I do have 2 beautiful intelligent nieces who I adore, 15 and 10 years old as well as grown nephews. But my girls are my life!

6. Do you work?

• I have been retired now 8 years and as I said earlier I was an emergency dispatcher for 24 years, after moving to be closer to my mom I was then asked by a friend to manage his tattoo shop and learned to body pierce! Never ever did I see that coming, but I really enjoyed it.

7. Any pets?

• I have had pets all my life, but I am a total cat lover.... if I had the funds and health I would have a sanctuary/rescue for any and all animals...

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50?

• I am a 57 happily single female

9. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• Unfortunately the farthest I’ve only ever been is California lol (not a skilled traveler)

10. If you could be anywhere right now where would that be?

• If I could be anywhere it would be in Thailand working with Kathrine at the Blesele elephant/animal sanctuary

11. Favorite season?

• My favorite season is spring, because all the wildflowers are in full bloom and it’s just such a gorgeous sight to see them stretched across the fields

12, Favorite movie?

• My favorite movie is Auntie Mame (Rosalind Russell version) and To Wong Foo, Thanks for everything, Julie Newmar

Actor?

• My favorite Actor Kurt Russell

Actress?

• Favorite Actress Lucille Ball

Song?

• Favorite song would have to be Holding Back The Years by Simply Red

Favorite TV show?

• Favorite TV show I have a few... DODO HEROES!! The Have and the Have Nots, Out Daughtered, anything on BRAVO, Alaskan Bush People, and ALONE....

13. If you could meet anyone (living and dead) in the world, who would it be?

• If I could meet anyone alive or dead it would have to be my Dad who passed before I was born, Steve Irwin, Queen Victoria, Walt Disney. .... And Alive it would have to be Kathrine from Blesele 🐘 elephant/animal sanctuary in Thailand. http://www.blesele.org/index2.php

Contest of the Month

Best New Game Design

October's contest is for the Best New Game Design submitted throughout the month. You can include your own graphics, opt to use graphics already available on GoldToken, or if chosen as the winning entry, possibly have your graphics designed by our professional graphic artists. All entries will be reviewed for playability and judged by GoldToken's Graphic Arts team. The winning game will be announced in November's newsletter. Winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two month Silver membership, and see their new game added to GoldToken's collection of games (as long as it is feasible to code) sometime during this next year. Please send your entries to GoldToken Support.

There are a number of steps involved in creating a new board game. A new game design can be a variation of a current game or entirely new, but it must be original and not a game found anywhere else. Start with variations of games that you love, that you loved as a child etc. Work out what makes these games fun, what’s wrong with these games, what could be better. Look at all different kinds of games from many different genres. This is the funnest part of game design. We hope you enjoy planning your entry!

Icon Mania!

will be celebrated with icons this month for those that enjoy the Halloween fun, so there will be no Icon Hunt. The Icon Hunt will be on hold until the first of the year due to holidays being so frequent. There is also a row with Fall icons for those that like to change for the season.
