December 2010

GoldToken's Monthly News

GoldToken's Olympic games started early this morning to the heated excitement of many players with The 2010 Olympic Tournament Group 1 A Tournament and The 2010 Olympic Tournament Group 1 B Tournament. Special thanks go to all 12 Olympic presidents, and the tournament organizers, rabbitoid, Jacob1987 and *EAGLE ONE*, without which, the Olympics would not be possible. If you haven't thanked the team who spent hundreds of accumulated hours, now would be a good time to do so. High five

If you invited someone to join GoldToken on National Gaming Day, you have until December 13th for them to sign up to win your 10 Golderos. So be sure to remind your invitees if they haven't joined GoldToken yet.

A dear player and friend to many, MountainMist, who has been highly instrumental to GoldToken has passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Chris - was a far more integral part of GoldToken than most know. She never asked for accolades but was one of the cogs that makes GoldToken as special as it is. It is these unsung heros behind the scenes that nobody knows about that make this such a special site. And we are so sad to lose such a special cog in our wheel. It is with these thoughts that CATCHER211 created this dedication to her:

Game Of The Month

December's game of the month is Four In a Row! Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament by signing up today for The December 2010 Game Of The Month - Four In a Row! Tournament! Have fun

Four In a Row (also known as Four Up, Plot Four, Find Four, Connect Four, and Four in a Line), was first sold under the famous "Connect Four" trademark by Milton Bradley in February 1974. A two-player game in which the players first choose a color and then take turns placing their colored discs on the bottom row of a seven-column, six-row grid. The object of the game is to connect four of one's own discs of the same color next to each other vertically, horizontally, or diagonally before one's opponent can do so.

GoldToken's Game of the Month is intended to reintroduce and remind players of some of the special games we have on GoldToken. In doing so, we are running a Game of the Month - Double Elimination Tournament open for everyone with a 5 Golderos prize to the winner.

Best Recipe Contest

November's winner is: Decadent Holiday Brownies

My favorite recipe to make with kids, as there is no "exact" amount to measure. A little more or less of anything is part of the recipe. Besides, a little marshmallow fight is part of the fun! I normally make a huge batch, using two boxes of brownie mix, but few people have families as large and likely only need the half recipe version posted below:

Preheat oven to 350ºF

In large bowl, hand mix the following:

1 plain Brownie box mix (I prefer Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate)
1/2 16oz package of bakers semi-sweet chocolate chunks (M&M's or chocolate chips also work good)
1/2 16 oz package of bakers caramel pieces
1 box of chocolate Jello pudding mix (not the cook style)
chopped walnuts to taste (I use approx 12 ounces)
1 large egg
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil

Gently stir in (do not mix completely, you want it swirled) the following:

1 6.5 oz jar of marshmallow creme
1 huge, extra large scoop of peanut butter (about 6 ounces worth)

Pour into greased 13"x9"x2" pan and bake for 35 minutes. Note: The brownies will appear to not be done, especially in the center, but don't worry, this is normal.

Sprinkle 1/2 16oz package of Heath Bar toffee pieces on top of the half baked brownies and cover the pan tightly with foil and let set on the counter for 15 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve hot with the very best vanilla ice cream you can find and prepare for heaven. Brownies don't get any better than this!

Variations:

  • Espresso Brownies - add 1/4 instant coffee and 1 TB cinnamon
  • Cake Like Brownies - add an extra egg
  • Macadamia Brownies - use white chocolate pieces and macadamia nuts instead of walnuts and chocolate chunks
  • Pumpkin Brownies - drop the peanut butter and toffee bits; layer several layers of brownie batter with pumpkin puree (1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon mixed with large can of pumpkin) with final layer of pumpkin on top, gently make swirls through the layers with knife on top before baking
  • Low Cal Brownies - Sorry, there is no low cal version of this recipe hahaha...take a diet day off and enjoy it anyhow!

Testimonial Of The Month
Brought to you by: *GoldToken* Players

A friend told me about the site especially the Grabble. I was playing on IYT and I still do, but GoldToken has a bigger variety and more fun variations of games. I was in a nursing home recently with no computer access at all. The conversations I have on Gold Token with my friends are wonderful. We share both sad times and joyful. I miss them if they don't play. They are all part of my family now. I love card games. I love Backgammon. And I love a bunch of other games. Board and card games are just so much fun to play.

Wow!! Just wanted to thank you so very much for the 2-month silver membership!! I've been a silver member for the past coupla years but just haven't been able to afford to renew it this past renewal period. I loved and miss all the clubs I used to be in! Maybe things will change financially for me after the holidays and I can afford to renew it after this trial period. Thanks a million!! You guys are terrific!! This has been my favorite game site for several years now and this is just another example as to why!! Happy_Thanksgiving Thank you
