GoldToken's Monthly Newsletter - Past Issues ] page, we are going to run the same contest again, with a little addon first:
- What squirrely image should we use for each of the blank wikis waiting for a newsletter to fill them? Win 5 Golderos for finding the image we use for a wiki! Send a link to your favorite image to GoldToken Support to enter the contest.
In the case of duplicates, the first one to send us a particular image wins.

What happens to a club when the owner passes away or is missing in action?
Clubs are part of the rich history of GoldToken, and many of them have been around for a long time! If a club owner passes away, we prefer that it remain in the deceased player's ownership as a tribute to that player. If the player left the club in good care, other officers can continue to maintain a fully functioning club.
If the club does not have such a support system in place, please contact
GoldToken Support for help. We will gladly promote a longstanding, trusted club member to, hopefully, continue the club in the spirit that the prior owner intended. What we do not want to happen is for the club to be disbanded, merged or drastically altered without careful consideration. It would be a good idea for club owners to discuss a back-up plan with other players and/or officers in their clubs, just in case there's an emergency that takes the owner away from the site unexpectedly or they are removed from the club due to a temporary membership lapse.
* If you have a question about a site tip or helpful tool you would like answered next month, please send GoldToken's Newshound a message before the 25th of this month.

March's winner is:
Irish Stew
Ingredients
2 lbs. lamb or beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 tbsp. each olive oil and butter
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. each onion and garlic powder
6 cloves garlic (optional but not traditional)
2 onions
6 large carrots
2 stalks celery
2 medium sweet potatoes
4 or 5 golden potatoes
1 shallot
1 carton beef broth
salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
Slice onions and celery, mince garlic and shallots. Cut potatoes into one-inch cubes, slice carrots
Turn the meat cubes in flour mixed with onion and garlic powder. Save the remaining flour. Brown meat cubes in a heavy bottom Dutch oven. Turn to brown on all sides. Remove meat and set aside. Add garlic, shallot, onions until onions are glassy.
Return meat to the pot and add the vegetables. Add the carton of beef broth and enough water to cover everything plus another 2 to 3 inches. Bring mixture to a boil, then immediately reduce heat to barely a simmer. Cover and simmer for an hour or so.
Test often to see when vegetables are fork tender. Remove cover and put remaining flour in a fine sieve, sprinkle evenly over surface of stew, whisking constantly to prevent clumping. Allow to cook on low heat for another half hour after flour has been added.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Note This can be prepared in the slow cooker after the meat has been browned. Stew is always better the next day, if there is any left!

Chess Corner brought to you by cubs
You may need... a chess client. This is software that allows you to play, and save and play over, games.
One I like, for Windows, is "Tarrasch" - ://www.triplehappy.com - named for a great Grandmaster and chess teacher. With this free, safe download you can save and play over your games, even making notes as you go. As you play your chess games here, youuse the GT chess client: works fine but lacks options you may need for study.
"Grandmaster" - huh? Well, there are titles in chess, presently administered internationalluy by FID, the world chess organization. The czare of Russia named the first five grandmasters long ago, but nowadays one earns a title internationally by showing performance at a certain level. From bottom to top, the titles are FIDE Master (FM), International Master (IM) and International Grandmaster (GM). As international communications and travel became more common, the holders of these various titles became much more common than they were years ago. These titles are earned (as are lower ones) by meeting norms during play: basically, you show how good you are by doing OK against actual titleholders. If you begin to perform regularly at a level below that of your title, your title becomes inactive, even though it's retained.
In the US, ratings are a sort of proportioned bet on the result of each game. The stronger you are, the less you earned the more you can lose from a wekar rated opponent. Our system was based on the Harkness system, used in postal chess, and it worked pretty well until the United States Chess Federation employed a mathematician to, uh, improve it. After a few hears he'd improved enough that it was no longer accurate and it became unpopular, but eventually a hero fixed it, with the mathematician kicking and screaming in the background.
There are also FIDE titles for Tournament Directors and Problems, and the USCF has comparable American titles.

Testimonial Of The Month
Brought to you by: *GoldToken* Players
It was a long time ago (July 2003) that I entered the page of Goldtoken through a friend who played Backgammon.
First I started as a guest and then I started to be platinum member and I was in many clubs.
I also had the courage to create my own club with my wife (The Shire Club ) because we love TLOTR's books and movies.
My favorite clubs are The Gammon Addicts Club and The Sallyp and Friends Club
I like many gammon games and some others that finish fast, but I am always open to learning new games.

CLUB CONNECTIONS Brought to you by:

The
Monkeytyper's Gaming Paradise Club sounds like a good place for a vacation and that made it the perfect gift when a few friends created it for owner
monkeytyper’s birthday in 2006. The club plays most of the games found on GT and has “unique discussion boards and sometimes trivia.”
She said that “making great friends” is the best part of having a club. A favorite memory is from “.. 2009, some of our club members (
squirrel,
heyred72,
Callie and myself
monkeytyper ) had a chance to meet each other in New Jersey(USA). We visited New York City and the Jersey shore.” That kind of camaraderie and “to keep having fun.” is what she hopes for in the future of The
Monkeytyper's Gaming Paradise Club.
Clubs be watching for
bookfox to knock on your club house door soon.
