(#5707685) Daniel Craig
Posted by Buddha on 26 Aug 2025 at 10:50AM If you have ever read Ian Fleming's James Bond books, you will see that he portrays James Bond as a real spy -- he mixes it up, fights the bad guys, and gets dirty. I'm sure the women like the clean, suave, tuxedo dressed image. When I first saw Craig playing Bond, I thought "This is refreshingly different". He got dirty. He got cuts. He really sacrificed himself for the good of England. I enjoyed ALL the Daniel Craig movies. (#5707667) Re: 007
Posted by Gameheart on 26 Aug 2025 at 8:17AM When I submitted the list to Pollmaster I deliberately left Niven out as his film was just a sendup very loosely based on the book...however..Pollmaster took it upon himself to include it..by the time I corrected him it was too late..it had been posted..
(#5707597) 007
Posted by Stinger2 on 25 Aug 2025 at 9:31PM Let me be clear. The James Bond franchise of movies has NEVER included David Niven as 007 in the official list of James Bond actors...and quite frankly, it's an embarrassment to have even included him on this list. Thankfully, nobody chose him as their favourite.

Posted by hoof hearted on 24 Aug 2025 at 4:43PM Or so she claims. Connery had a strange view of wife battery but never admitted to the abuse. Personally I think he was fairly straightforward and if he had actually hit her he would've said so. They divorced in 1971. He died in 2020.

Posted by bookfox on 24 Aug 2025 at 3:16PM You spelled Pierce Brosnan's name correctly. I've been a fan of his since 1982, so of course, he is my favorite Bond. I liked Roger Moore's humor & Daniel Craig was impressive. I dislike Sean Connery because he beat his wife in real life.

Posted by Brett smile on 16 Jul 2025 at 11:33AM You seen prices of new batteries now of days? Yes cheaper than a car but prices are sky rocketing ![]() (#5699032) Re: Hybrid
Posted by Balrog on 14 Jul 2025 at 10:24AM I really like the idea of hybrid cars -- why should the engine idle when one is stopped or going at low speed? Such a great idea. I do like the idea of being able to fuel up less often. A friend has a dual hybrid/electric car; in my mind, the best of both worlds - most of his driving is relatively close, so he can use the electric motor for about 80% of his driving. This means that a tank of gas lasts him over 2,000 miles. An co-worker once sneeringly pointed out that in hybrid or dual hybrid/electric cars, the extra cost is not covered by the savings in gasoline. But I'm still in awe of my friend only needing to get gasoline so infrequently. I wouldn't like an electric car; certainly not for distance travel: you'd run out of power, and then be trapped at the recharge station for hours waiting for a recharge. At least with gasoline engines, you can be on your way in a few minutes. (#5699030) Re: Hybrid
(#5699019) Re: Hybrid
Posted by steve111 on 14 Jul 2025 at 8:27AM I'll bet you didn't have a Toyota. "Toyota provides a hybrid battery warranty lasting 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, beginning on the date of first use. This warranty shows Toyotaās confidence in their hybrid batteries, increasing from the earlier 8-year/100,000-mile coverage, effective for the model year 2020. Replacement costs for a Toyota hybrid battery can vary significantly. On average, a new hybrid battery may range from $2,000 to $4,000, depending on the model and dealership pricing." We have had 2 Prius's, and 2 Camry hybrids and now have a Honda SUV hybrid. My brother has had 2 Prius's. My son has a hybrid. My daughter has had 2 Prius's. No problems with any of them, except for daughter's first Prius. It was 7 years old when battery went bad. Toyota replaced it @ NO COST! (#5699005) Re: Hybrid
Posted by Mustang John of the Wolf Pack on 14 Jul 2025 at 6:47AM I had one years ago, good gas mileage, the only problem is the battery. It is very expensive to replace. All the money I saved on gas went out the window to replace the battery. It's not worth it!! Ps:: The battery lasted less than 5 years. I believe the battery costs $5000 to replace. (#5679375) Re: What's your favorite vegetable to eat raw?
Posted by Jools on 7 Apr 2025 at 3:23AM Hmmm.. good point, I suppose it's just I've always referred to it as a salad crop and maybe associated vegetables as something usually cooked. Technically you're correct that fungi aren't veg as they don't come from plants, similarly kelp is often also referred to as a vegetable. I suppose it comes down to botanical vs culinary terminology as many vegetables are in fact fruits. Herbs are a further complication, as this is really a culinary term, the botanical term herbaceous (meaning herb-like) are plants without woody stems. Hence bananas are often mis-catagorised as herbs, rather than fruits that grow on a herbaceous plant rather than a tree. Again I much prefer cabbage raw than cooked, except red cabbage with I love both raw & cooked (#5679372) Re: What's your favorite vegetable to eat raw?

Posted by Black_Sun on 3 Apr 2025 at 6:52AM I tend to make my own out of mince (ground beef if you are from over the pond) from the butchers now and again, but I probably do this maybe 10 times a year. Maccy D is a total last resort, only to be entered if starving and no other food in miles - I worked there 20 years ago and it was horrible then š you can tell the quality has gone down further since.

Posted by hoof hearted on 2 Apr 2025 at 8:28PM I don't care for McDonald's, but there is a place around the corner that does big half pound organic beef burgers and they are D Lish with bacon, grilled onions and avocado, a couple kinds of cheeses, tomato and crunchy lettuce.

Posted by fatdaddy on 2 Apr 2025 at 8:46AM I used to eat a lot of hamburgers. Not anymore. With the current legislative body content you don't know what they're allowing in that ground beef mixture. I don't use ground meat in anything. I don't eat sausages, hot dogs etc.

Posted by Jools on 2 Apr 2025 at 8:30AM As MacDonalds operates in 120 countries, I would say probably not. I would say that hot dogs don't seem so popular outside USA though (#5678176) Re: (no subject)

Posted by fatdaddy on 27 Mar 2025 at 7:09PM Yes it appears that the British "Smarties" name was used 12 years before the American one. The Smarties candies were created at least 55 years before that.

Posted by Jools on 27 Mar 2025 at 6:47AM Not quite. Orange Smarties originally contained orange-flavoured chocolate, however, these days the orange flavour is added to the shell only. (#5676815) Re: M&M's

Posted by fatdaddy on 27 Mar 2025 at 1:51AM Smarties are different creatures here in the U.S. They are tart and sweet compressed sugar fruit flavored candies { Image: //www.mashed.com/img/gallery/the-untold-truth-of-smarties-candies/intro-1583348790.jpg } (#5676756) Re: M&M's
Posted by sallyp on 27 Mar 2025 at 1:43AM Orange smarties used to to have a flavour of orange in the coating.

Posted by Jools on 26 Mar 2025 at 10:54PM With smaties it was the chocolate not the coating that was flavoured

Posted by fatdaddy on 26 Mar 2025 at 2:55PM There are no flavorings in the hard sugar shell as far as I know. I miss the Coffee Nut M&M's. (#5676625) Re: M&M's
Posted by Jools on 26 Mar 2025 at 1:47PM No idea, rarely eat them, if ever. I know orange smarties used to be irange flavoured, think they still are and the brown ones were originally coffee flavoured, and blue ones originally had white chocolate inside. (#5676483) For my next birthday
Posted by fatdaddy on 25 Mar 2025 at 11:11PM I'd like a 45,000 square ft estate with a 15,000 square ft barn on 250 wooded acres, a 50 acre meadow and a 50 acre spring fed pond, animals, various vehicles, sporting equipment, and a small fortune for the upkeep, taxes, and living expenses. That's all. |
