GoldToken's Monthly News

As early fall brings welcome chilly mornings, we are much more apt to login to play our games more often. If you would like to be a greater part of GoldToken, and have the time to do so, perhaps this is a good time to volunteer for one of the many projects happening around the site. Players are especially needed to run contests on the boards and write news articles for the newsletter. If you have any ideas that you feel could be used on the boards, please send them to GoldToken Support.

GoldToken's 2009 Olympics are well under way! With ten teams, and well over 450 players, this will be GoldToken's largest Olympics yet! The official games will begin the first week of December. There might even be a few contestant slots open, if you haven't signed up yet. Write to Peg, GoldToken's Olympic Committee President, if interested.

Don't forget to vote a minor off the board on the { Board: El Dorado - Survive the Lost City of Gold and Win! } contest. Other new discussion board games can be played on the { Board: Peg's CrossWords }, , { Board: Word Rhymes } and on the Change One Letter DB's. They are open for all players and have been very popular already! Guests welcome!

*EAGLE ONE* has been soaring high with multiple HTH tournaments and running The Gold Triathlon Marathon Club, GoldToken's new competitive endurance gaming event. If you are interested in testing your gaming fitness in a competitive tournament involving several gaming skills, it is the club to join! New marathon's are starting daily.


Sing like no one's listening, dance like no ones watching, and play like you can't lose! Happy September everyone!

**Player* Appreciation*

firefly

My "sis", firefly and I have known each other for a long time. She is the most trustworthy and kindest lady anyone could ever know. I believe we first met at IYT back in 1998 or '99, but it could have been here at GoldToken. Regardless, it was instant best friends from that day on. Time sure flies when you enjoy someones company so much!

firefly came into the Mods with me when I purchased GoldToken back in 2004, and has always been the calm one in our management group, ever ready with a kind word for anyone in need.

Because firefly was my dear friend, Chad recommended that I turn the sites graphic creation over to her at that time. She has been GoldToken's graphic artist ever since! She has worked wonders with various features of GoldToken's development, including how we manage the site and the boards.

I desired to add a war game for GoldToken, but didn't want to do the same variation of Stratego all the other game sites do. So when I went to visit firefly at her home in the UK in 2007, we planned the basic layout of our new Xiphias games. She was the major designer of the game, including rules, etc. Our original name for the game had been Meteor. But thanks to firefly's investigative research, we discovered the name had already been taken. Thus, my lone credit to the game is it's name.

firefly has been the major backbone of our Grabble game and has been entirely responsible for it since the beginning. She also helped Mecir design the new site layout and game pages.

But thats not all. firefly created our Jiggle words - How to create them J~~~~I~~~~G~~~~G~~~~L~~~~E~~~~R letters, and last but not least our widely popular that we all love so much.

My dear friend is a music teacher by day, a graphic artist & game creator by night. Truly a marvelous and integral part of GoldToken!

firefly for all of your hard work and creativity at GoldToken!!! We really appreciate all you do!

I am such a fan of GoldToken. It is such a part of my daily routine and I find it a good way to relax and let go of some stress. I was looking back and can't believe I've been here for eight years already. Wow, time really does go by quickly. When I first started playing here, the site was relatively new and there were a small amount of people playing here. I was playing backgammon at another site and someone there told me about this great new site. I tried it and have been playing here since. It's my favorite game site.

I love the way the site is run. Everything is so accessible. I have met so many great people here and have developed some off line friendships as a result as well. I enjoy chatting with people all over the country and all over the world. I find that fascinating. The people that play here are really great. I plan to continue enjoying GoldToken for a long time to come and would highly recommend this site.

I came to GoldToken after reading a Discussion Board on IYT. I was new to the internet and with my trusty WEBTV decided to see what everyone was talking about. I learned how to play backgammon here and started to love it after many wood tokens. Then I started to meet new friends here and there. I decided to buy a membership and kept increasing it up to a platinum, couldn't get enough, LOL.

GoldToken passes many pleasant hours for me, I couldn't ask for a better hobby. I have become friends with a few on here, and this summer for 4 days and nights in June squirrel and myself were graced with a visit from heyred72 from Florida and Callie from Oregon! It was great meeting my extended family!

The past 7 1/2 years I have spent on GoldToken have been the best and it keeps getting better with all its improvements!

I joined GoldToken after my parents and uncle, tango2, evan and Reonn . I saw them play on GoldToken and I got very interested. My nickname here was first Maddy. After some time I changed it to Stealthfire. My mum tango2 nicknamed me that.


I have enjoyed GoldToken from when I joined, on the 16th of January 2008. And also new friends with everyone making GoldToken a better place. Its the best website ever!
