Best Recipe Contest

September's winner is: Crackerbarrel Country Fried Steak

• Submitted by Silkwood

Ingredients
oil for frying
1½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup saltine cracker crumbs
1½ teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup water
1 pound tenderized cube steaks

Instructions
Pour 3 to 4 inches of oil into a deep fryer or large pot, and heat the oil to 350°F.
Combine the flour, cracker crumbs, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Mix well.
In another shallow dish, combine the buttermilk and water. Mix well.
Dip the cube steaks into the flour mixture and shake off the excess.
Dip the flour-coated cube steaks into the buttermilk, shake off the excess.
Dredge the cube steaks in the flour again.
Place the breaded steaks on a wire rack resting on a baking sheet. Allow the breading to set up for 5 minutes. This helps to set the breading on the steak.
Place the breaded steaks into the hot oil. Fry the steaks for 3 to 5 minutes on one side, until the sides of the meat start to brown and the top of the meat starts to cook.

Gently flip the steaks away from you to avoid splashing hot oil onto yourself, and fry for 3 to 5 minutes on the other side.
When both sides are golden brown and crispy, remove the steaks from the hot oil and drain on a clean wire rack over a baking sheet.

The Pony Up! board had a variety of contests for September including riddles, captions, funny memes and spur of the moment contests. A special voting contest was held for random acts of kindness with participants receiving a special gift token for their random acts of kindness.

We would like to say to *Gary* for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.

1. What brought you to GoldToken, and how'd you choose your name for GT?

• what brought me to GoldToken was me looking for checkers online back on ntl, when I first had access to that I found GoldToken, itsmy turn, and dailygammon. All around the same time in 2001 but then was gone for more than six months when there weren't permanent accounts then when Chad was running it along with his brother Taylor back then.
• I chose my name for GoldToken when I use to play magic the gathering Portal 2 series from one of the cards in that game which was a flying creature in that game with a attack of six and power of four
• I was gone for a while then I came back in 2008 I've been here ever since (on and off)

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?

• what interested me the most is a very large part of the game site like the tournament games I like the ratings which show you how you are doing in the games
• Like the clubs in GoldToken. Years ago I use to run two myself, they were 'accumulated explorers' which was a checkers club and 'EUroclub', when I left for a while I put tulip in charge of it from Wales

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?

• I reside in England United Kingdom in. A town called Northampton
• In this country they should see things like Stonehenge and places like Buckingham Palace and the place Princess Diana grew up in on the Spencer estate and the castles dotted around the country

4. What hobbies do you have?

• one of my hobbies use to be collecting comics which I was doing from the age of eight and playing board games

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• no as far as I know but do expect I might have two which they never let me know if they're we're mine or not

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?

• no I don't work anymore as been run over five times and the left side of the body can collapse at any given moment plus other ailmemts that I have also. I used to work in a cash and carry also work as a plasterer being trained for that when I was seventeen, also worked in warehouses, I've worked for dubble glazing companies, had a paper round from the age of eleven

7. Any pets?

• I used to own some cats when I was growing up, they used to run up the stairs to wake me up for school in the morning and when my cat 'Poppy' had its second litter it drop one of its first litter on them Which nearly killed them all, after that the cat was put off from feeding them so I had to hand feed them from a bottle I managed to save all of. Then had two when I was in middle school

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50? Male or Female?

• I'm am 49 and male

9. Favorite food? (Do you have a recipe you'd like to share?)

• favourite food is fish like jelly deals and things like chicken

A good recipe is get some chicken fillets put them in the oven for 30 minutes get some vegetables like parsnips/carrots/sweetcorn/garlic and choose Which others vegetables you would like to put with that on the boil for about 25 minutes. Add beans and a couple of fried eggs to that, add salt to the vegetables and add some tomato puree. Add some herbs like sage and look and lime leaves add some onions into that which makes for a great meal

10. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• always been in England so the furthest I've been is to the coast at South end

11. If you could be anywhere right now, where would that be?

• if I could be anywhere it be one of the comic cons in the world as that reflects a good part of my life when I was growing up and collecting them

12. Favorite season?

• spring is my favourite season as everything comes to life

13. Favorite movie? Favorite TV show?

• there's more than one, I would have to say the marvel cinematic universe for their films and TV shows which I like all of those and the DC universe too watch the sandman the other day that's a fantastic series I recommend that's worth watching

14. If you could meet anyone (living or dead) in the world, who would it be ?

• if I could meet any body alive or dead it would have to be my dead partner that's who I would choose as I was with them for years

Contest of the Month

Best New Game Design

October's contest is for the Best New Game Design submitted during the month of October.

There are a number of steps involved in creating a new board game. A new game design can be a variation of a current game or entirely new, but it must be original and not a game found anywhere else. Start with variations of games that you love, that you loved as a child etc. Work out what makes these games fun, what’s wrong with these games, or what could be better. Look at all different kinds of games from many different genres. This is the most fun part of game design. We hope you enjoy planning your entry!

You can include your own graphics, opt to use graphics already available on GoldToken, or if chosen as the winning entry, possibly have your graphics designed by our professional graphic artists. All entries will be reviewed for playability, and judged by GoldToken's Graphic Arts team. The winning game will be announced in November's newsletter.

The contest winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two-month Silver membership, and see their new game added to GoldToken's venue of games (as long as it is feasible to code), sometime during the next year.

Entries must be entirely new games or variants not seen anywhere else, and be submitted to GoldToken's Newshound no later than 11:59 PM, Pacific Time, Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
