It's time to get ready for GoldToken's 2010 Olympics! If you are interested in playing, join the The Olympiads Club, but please hurry, as time is limited. Sorry, you must have a silver membership to do so. But if that is a problem for you, GoldToken has a couple openings for project managers in exchange for Silver memberships. Please contact me for details if interested.  Our gaming year is quickly coming to an end. GoldToken's graphic contributes, Mecir and our beta testers are working hard to squeeze in a number of games before the upcoming Olympics. Not an easy task. The process for a new game is lengthy, and mentally consuming, starting with conception, graphic creation, coding, testing, more testing, graphic adjustments and additions, transfer to beta, more testing, more graphics and finally, when all is well, transferred to GoldToken for everyone's enjoyment. If you haven't had the experience of being a part of this process, now would be a terrific time to check it out on GoldToken's beta site, where we have recently released a lovely game designed by FixitDave. Please keep a copy your current icon on your computer & we will do the same. We will have to take it off the icon list, and this way we will have 2 copies when it is needed again. Octobers game of the month is Outbreak. In this wonderfully infectious game, you control a virus colony and attempt to mutate the viruses of other players into those of your own. The Outbreak name was the brainchild of our two favorite brothers, Chad & Taylor, and is based upon an aracade style game called Ataxx. There is even a variant here called Outbreak Ataxx which was made to be slightly closer to the original version. Join us in a fun Double Elimination Tournament of the original game by signing up today for The October 2010 Game Of The Month - Outbreak! Tournament GoldToken's Game of the Month is intended to reintroduce and remind players of some of the special games we have on GoldToken. In doing so, we are running a Game of the Month - Double Elimination Tournament open for everyone with a 5 Golderos prize to the winner.
Septembers winner is: My own surf and turf Submitted by Scrapbooking Maven  Ingredients 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined 1/2 pound tender beef sliced very thin 1 bag stir fry veggies partially defrosted 1/2 can bamboo shoots (or the whole thing if you like) 1/2 can water chestnuts (same theory as above) 1 small onion sliced very thin 3 teaspoons corn starch in 1/4 cup water 2 tablespoons Chinese black bean sauce black pepper to taste 2 teaspoons soy sauce a couple of splashes of your favorite white wine 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 cloves garlic crushed In a bowl mix the beef, soy sauce, garlic and wine. Heat a large skillet to medium high,heat oil, and add beef (with marinade). Cook until beef is about half done and add shrimp. Cook that until shrimp turns opaque and curls. Remove beef and shrimp- set aside. If necessary add a bit more oil, sautee onion until almost done, then put in the stir fry veggies, water chestnuts, and bamboo shoots. Cook until they are hot through and through but not too mushy. Return beef and shrimp to pan, add black bean sauce. Make sure corn starch is desolved in the water and add to skillet. Reduce heat to medium and stir until the sauce thickens slightly. Adjust flavors to taste. This can feed at least 4/5 people very well. I like to serve it with either white rice, or lo mein (linguini). Since 2005, I've been a faithful member of ItsYourTurn.com. It was there that I met Betty45. She kept telling me about a game site she found and continued to nudge me to join and play a couple of games with her. That game site was GoldToken. Eventually I did give in. In the beginning, I didn't think much of this site. As a guest member, there was little you could do. I was hesitant to invest any money into something I wasn't exactly thrilled with. I didn't know what a wiki was, it just didn't seem like there was much to it. I couldn't have been more wrong! This site is huge and has so much to offer! In order to get the most out of this site, you should become a platinum member. I know, I know... I sound like a spokesperson for Gold Token. I'm not, I assure you. I was a guest member for many months until I decided to take the plunge and become a paid supporter. I wish the site would allow guest members to "sample" the platinum membership for a limited amount of time. Everyone would understand what I'm talking about. I love the little icons you can adopt to go with your screen name. I really like using the Goldies to dress up messages and text and I think the Clubs are a great way to meet new friends! The games and their variations are awesome! More than the great variety of games, the cute icons and the clever goldies, there is an incredible group of people here. That's what it's all about. I am so grateful to my friend Betty45 for pushing me to join. To murrsquito who was the very first person to invite me to a club, to furryfeet who quickly became someone I looked up to. I'm grateful to nisqually, lab rat, Callie, poohbear, mojodanielle and Miss Traven for teaching me how to navigate the site and edit wikis. I know I'm not the brightest crayon in the box! You were all so patient. That's what makes this site special! These people and so many more like them! I can go on and on about all the great new friends I've made here but there's not enough room. Need a Club to Join? { Club } This is the club with your money in mind. I have set this Club up to help all save money no matter where you live. If you find yourself having to save every penny you can in every way possible then this is the club for you. It does not matter what country you live in because we all use the internet and can order from different sites. If we all work together and help each other we can all save. No game playing required.
