Greed!

"Ïn Backgammon you cannot be greedy", my friend The Wall taught me years ago while we were playing live games.

I feel so incredibly honoured that I got to know this very kind man (and top player) from Iran. In the early 2000's he was the number 1 player when I started playing Backgammon online.

Although it cost him many points if he lost, he did accept my invitation with a newbie. The first two games: 1-1.

It is because of GoldToken that I eventually met him in person when we both lived in Europe. We played many games on an old, wooden Backgammon board - with the tiniest of dice - that used to belong to his father. The board was more than forty years old. Every Friday his father used to play Backgammon with an uncle, in the city of Mashhad.

Majid lost his father when he was only 16. Somehow, even though he had 10 brothers and sisters, he managed to keep his father's board, even after emigrating to Europe.

What he meant by greed in Backgammon is, when there's one man on the bar, don't try to get three or four on the bar, because that's when you might sabotage yourself.

Takhteh, I love you forever!!

I don't know or should say remember backgammon, I remember the names, just don't remember how to play. I was here for years and played a lot but had to go to hospital for a very lengthy stay. I saw this post and really liked the story and wanted you to knoe. Great job.
