I will say that I had a similar problem that I thought was the site. I ended up rebooting my wifi router and it mostly did the trick. I still have occasions where the site runs very slowly producing a similar page that you were seeing.
I don't know what kind of computer you're using. I have a mac and I reboot once a month. With Windows machines I used to need to reboot every couple of weeks. Either way, that is something to try when you notice performance issues.
Before you reboot next time though, try just shutting down your browser and re-starting it. It'd be interesting to see if that does the trick.
