Posted by Whimjest on 28 Apr 2025 at 5:58PM The section size is zero because there are no sections in a double elimination tournament. Thatโs my take on it.
(#5684017) Re: Section size?
Posted by rabbitoid on 27 Apr 2025 at 10:20PM It says on the tournament page "This tournament will start shortly after 9:00 AM on 28 April 2025", The time is California time zone. The NG started early since the maximum number of entered players has been reached. Double elimination has no sections. Everything seems ok. Two messages are weird on the BG page: the one you noted, The section size is limited to 0 players, shouldn't be there for double elimination The starting date for the round is missing, maybe it'll appear after the whole tournament is started later today. (#5683963) Re: Section size?
Posted by Jools on 27 Apr 2025 at 4:45PM Well the BG one seems to have started, but only 10 signed up for grabble. As it's double elimination I think that's how it's meant to work (#5683950) Section size?
Posted by Linda Sue on 27 Apr 2025 at 3:37PM Even though I am not signed up for this tournament (wanted to, but the limit of 24 has already been met), I am wondering if the tournament will even start for those who are signed up. Posted by Knight Jarlynn on 24 Apr 2025 at 8:06PM PS. left out two things... One- if no pieces are stuck, the sentence does not appear, only when needed. and Two; The people who like this variation of 'Dice Chess, called "Grand Dice Chess", you know how to play the new version. in Dice Chess, you are given a dice number roll, and you move that piece on the board. In the new : [Grand Dice Version[variation]- you are given the pieces to move on your turn[all 4 of them]. FOOTNOTE- You have been given all 4 pieces to move with your turn. this is how the game is played[with the rules]. So- it is not a game of regular Chess. - Rather, it is a game of the new version called "GRAND DICE CHESS". This explains why. This is the game of Dice Chess Variation. and it is played with 4 pieces on your turn. thankyou for reading this message- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (#5683238) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
(#5683234) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Knight Jarlynn on 24 Apr 2025 at 6:19PM in my games on the top of the page, there is a sentence about ending the game if you cannot move the [for example. The Pawn]. click the sentence, and the 4 boxes appear[the same boxes you see all the time]to end the turn in the game. OR to end the game. Save this move 'box and the other boxes. It is easy to do. ![]() <><> (#5683228) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Games Administrator on 24 Apr 2025 at 6:03PM So here is the response from Tomas: "This is more of a design issue than a bug. What happens is that in this variant, you roll 4 dice and then move the corresponding pieces (1=pawn, 2=knight, etc). However, the dice can roll a piece that cannot move at all, and then you have to skip that move. I think that this is fine and just a result of randomness (+you can always try to keep a move open for all your piece types). But I can see the argument from the other side as well - it sad to get a bad roll and be able to move less pieces." (#5683137) Old Hangman bug reappearing?
Posted by rabbitoid on 24 Apr 2025 at 8:12AM Hi, It has been signalled on the Hangman board that in the following tournament The Kickback Thematic Hangman Competition in The Wolf Pack - Spring Tournament has been started with "100 points". This is impossible with the current tournament creation procedure (I've just re-checked: the choices proposed are 4, 6, 10 or 15 points). Anyway, the tournament has no Diceman variants. It is unfortunately impossible to check from the tournament page when the tournament was created. precious says it was created "probably two, but maybe 3 months prior to the start date". I don't recall when the bug was corrected, but I'm pretty sure it was before 2025. Of course, anything defined before the bug correction may still contain non-Diceman variants with "100 points". (#5682870) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Big Giant Head on 23 Apr 2025 at 1:31AM The rules state that the dice will not show pieces that are no longer on the board, there's no mention of only showing pieces that can move. I can imagine game states where a piece might not be able to move initially but could if other pieces are moved first although I suspect it would be difficult to implement forced moves due to the number of options available each turn - I'm not a programmer so this might not be complicated but I have a feeling it is. It might be far simpler to show the result of all the dice regardless of their ability to be moved than it would be to calculate all possible moves and implement forced moves. In Backgammon you get to see both dices regardless of their useability.
(#5682821) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Knight Jarlynn on 22 Apr 2025 at 3:00PM I have had 4 'Kings' and I am sure 4 pawns here and there. also 2 Kings and 2 pieces many times. low rollouts and double 5's do not help you in a race. we were taught that Backgammon is a game of hitting and racing. The Best Defense Is A Good Offense, and the Best Offense is A Good Defense; This is also in Martial Arts with Time, Space, and Position. hope this helps because those moves are out there. I play daily with seeing these moves all the time, with the opponent getting doubles after doubles. you have to see ahead. KINGSLAYER had a good comment for that. "I do what I can do, this is all I can do". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (#5682775) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct

(#5682774) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Ray of Light on 22 Apr 2025 at 1:21PM Use whichever word that you prefer. The list of pieces shouldn't really include even one piece that cannot be moved. There is no purpose in displaying to the user piece(s) that cannot be moved. (#5682773) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
(#5682772) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
(#5682765) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by steve111 on 22 Apr 2025 at 12:45PM In the games I'm playing, there are only 4 moves allowed per turn, not 5. "Every so often" implies (to me) a much higher rate than what the odds actually are. I don't think I've seen a move of 4 pawns yet. I will let someone else calculate those odds. I think a better term would be "Rarely" (#5682752) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Ray of Light on 22 Apr 2025 at 11:50AM The games works as follows: five random pieces are selected from the set of pieces on the board for the current player. Piece selection may be duplicated. However, pieces are currently being selected that have no legal move at all. Every so often, it does occur where five moves are selected for pieces that have no legal moves. So, I cannot move any piece at all on that turn. (#5682747) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct

Posted by Knight Jarlynn on 21 Apr 2025 at 9:46PM This is my Club- THE ORIGINAL GRAND DICE CHESS CLUBThis is a fairly new game to play. hey steve111, I think this is a ''Great Game. If you like' Dice Chess', this is more of a 'Challenge', different, more like Chess. You get 4 turns when it is your turn [4 pieces to play with. At the end game, if a piece is called and you cannot move, At the top of the page is a sentence you click on, and the game shows the 4 boxes to end the game. it is played the same way as' Dice Chess' is played, but with 4 pieces to move each turn. (#5682641) Re: Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by steve111 on 21 Apr 2025 at 6:41PM I personally like this version, as is. In this game, pawns are also FORCED to move, unless blocked. That is a rule that is not in other games. This uniqueness is what makes it interesting. (#5682637) Grand Dice Chess - Irregular conduct
Posted by Ray of Light on 21 Apr 2025 at 6:18PM I am reporting this behaviour as a bug, because, in my opinion, it is not a reasonable feature. In the Grand Dice Chess game, pieces are currently selected for moving that cannot move in the game. Most of the time, these are movements for pawns that cannot move at all. I recommend that only pieces that are able to move be selected. This is what occurs in the Dice Chess games. (#5682516) Re: Dropped points

Posted by edorf on 17 Apr 2025 at 3:18AM And I didn't have to look at many games to find the examples. In addition to the ones with more than 4 parts in a move there could also be cases with 2 non-doubles in one turn, or cases where the full rolls couldn't be used keeping it within 4 parts.

Posted by Games Administrator on 15 Mar 2025 at 7:25PM No, it is not the heart of the problem. The person that accepts the images double checks to make sure that it's not an image that wasn't taken by the poster. They can easily change that box if needed. I just thought that we would change it back to the other way to see if it's easier on them. We've tried it both ways, and I've never really been happy with it lol. Posted by rabbitoid on 14 Mar 2025 at 5:54AM This is a request, not a bug. The bug is in my eyes ![]() Would it be terribly complicated to permit a player to modify the colour of his pieces at least once after a game starts? I'm talking about games where players choose their colours before the game starts, for example go moku, camelot, xiphias and so on. Not games where the colours are pre-fixed such as chess, checkers, reversi etc. My problem is that I often find myself playing yellow against white, dark blue against black... I know at least one player who has trouble with red-green. So maybe allow a colour switch, or maybe prefix the colours in adjust graphics, for example show me=always white, 1st opponent=blue, etc. (#5673786) Re: photo

It makes it hard to play any of those games and don't know if you could figure out the solution to why it's happening please?
(#5660689) Player appears twice in a club
Posted by rabbitoid on 14 Jan 2025 at 10:06AM In The 2024 Winter Olympics gravyrun Memorial Club , gpr11 appears twice. Weird I have never seen a member listed twice in a club. How could this happen? In the "membership" page he is also listed twice (on the same day) as joined. His profile shows him as member of the club, once. This should not have any effect on the Olympics. It's just odd. Posted by unamuno (twisting incognito) on 13 Jan 2025 at 8:17PM And it is what I thought-the placement was decided only by the final round,as in the 4 rounds of this game my penalty points were 273,while NEUROTIKA's were 561. So however you slice it I finished 2nd in this game

Posted by Big Giant Head on 12 Jan 2025 at 2:03PM I've raised this before many months ago. Team Salvo gives a gold token to the winning team and a silver token to the losing team. It should be a wooden token to the losing team.
(#5659763) Re: Rummikub tournament scoring
Posted by unamuno (twisting incognito) on 11 Jan 2025 at 9:51AM This seems more applicable to an individual game rather than a race to a particular number, which involves multiple games. I'm guessing only the deciding game was included, not all 3 games, as my winning a game would almost certainly preclude me from having more negative points than NEUROTIKA. Whatever it still makes more sense for placement to be decided by a visible score rather than an invisible one

(#5659074) Re: Rummikub tournament scoring
Posted by Mecir on 8 Jan 2025 at 12:14PM Hi there! Upon review, the placement appears to be correct. To quote from the rules: Placement of the remaining players is decided by the value of tiles left in their hands - each numbered card incurs as many penalty points as its number is, while Jokers incur 30 penalty points. That is to say, the points only matter for the winner - everyone else's placement is determined based on what tiles they have left, not how many points they have scored. (#5658938) Re: Rummikub tournament scoring
Posted by Jools on 7 Jan 2025 at 7:37PM I think the issue may be the final score doesn't show penalty points for cards in your hand at the end of the round. As it doesn't show what tiles were left it's hard to tell final positions

Posted by rabbitoid on 7 Nov 2024 at 8:12AM That's weird, I'm sure that was fixed a while ago. I'm certain the system asks you now for separate "points" for diceman and non-diceman tourneys. I've never included diceman in the Olympics, but that's because of the bug in diceman that makes the games continue beyond the max number of points. Was that one ever fixed? I have to ask because Mecir fixes bugs, he's very good at that, but he keeps it a secret and never tells us when it is done. (#5643892) An old glitch has reappeared involving Hanging Diceman
