1 variant, from the official Canasta rules is: If U get down to 1 card but do not have a canasta yet, an option pops up where U see 'restart turn'-'undo meld'----===it's 'pass discard'====which means U don't have to discard........boy did it give me fits a 1st. Because I never got down to 1 card,,,,but I finally figured out what, other players were doing,,found out the was just a rule variant. For a while I would freeze the deck if at all possible, when someone got down to 1 card, and started passing on discarding

Black 3's are the best. 4 through 7---worth 5 points each, 8 through queen---worth 10 points each, A's 20 points, 2's wild and worth 20 point, joker wild and worth 50 point. Need 50 points minimum to meld(right now). Seven cards make a canasta. can't have more wild cards than natural cards in a canasta. Everyone has their own stratagy when it comes to discarding. Some players<not me> are always using wild cards to freze the deck.....meaning U must have 2 cards in your hand to pick up the deck. Can't use just 1 card w/a wild card. which U can do otherwise.
