Lunch for a Groundhog
You may see a lovely pot of impatiens and coleus; the ground hog living under my neighbor's deck sees a delicious meal. And a few days after I took this picture it reduced these plants to stubs that took over a month to grow back enough to begin blooming again. Taken July 2015.

Re: Lunch for a Groundhog
Wow! They're beautiful! I wonder if the prettier they are, the better they taste to a groundhog?!!!

Re: Lunch for a Groundhog
@Kookaburra: Yes they do and radish tops, carrot tops, beans, peas, and lettuce. Which is why most of my garden is caged in some manner.

@Churchgoer: Thanks! I always imagine that flowers, being dainty, would taste better.

@CATS GALORE: We've got deer that come into the yard but they don't come close enough to the house to eat this pot of flowers. They come for the rose flowers and the bird seed. Smiling

Re: Lunch for a Groundhog
Your lucky they devour our flowers, pine trees & plants. Here today and gone tomorrow! Not to mention our pumpkin patch we watered all summer, ate all the blooms so no pumpkins that fall.

Yes, I could see prettier flowers tasting better lol!

Oh, no, Cats! Well, at least we know that the deer enjoyed THEIR pumpkin for Thanksgiving!

Re: Lunch for a Groundhog
They ate the blossoms that eventually turn into the pumpkins! This winter they ate on our huge Rhododendron Flower, which they never touched before. We got one of those motion sprinklers that turn on when an animal approaches it, hopefully it is as good as they say on TV?
