Summer at the Ashtabula Lighthouse
Summer is finally in full abundance along Lake Erie and the cool water is an ideal way to cool off in late summer. Not really, the breakwater is well over a mile long and isn't really designed to be walked on. I've seen a few adventurous groups make it well over half the way. I once tried to see how far I could go and got maybe a tenth of the way in. If the lake was calm and I had hiking boots and something to store my camera in that was waterproof and a walking stick, I probably would have made it much further. Though, I bet there's still a spot or two that are impassible. There's been talk of building a walkway over the breakwater as a way to draw visitors. I guess taking a boat would also be an option. I guess I'm getting old. Go by boat. No digging up land to accommodate us. I'm such a beatnik. Posted at 2 Dec 2016 at 12:51PM by Scheherizade (You must be logged in to post comments) |
