Mosaic table
It was just a pine table, badly blistered in the sun, and I was going to just throw it away. Then I said "hey, it's just pine, why not restain the legs, and mosaic the rest. It's now all outside, but covered from the harsh sun.

Re: Mosaic table
You do nice work. How heavy is it with the tiles?

Re: Mosaic table
Well, although it's a smallish coffee table, about 4 x 2 feet, I had difficulty in getting it out of a Honda 4 x 4 car! I had to call a friend, Andreas, in to move it with me to the garden, which is about 20 foot downstairs! We live in a hill, which means that the car is upstairs, and the garden down.

Re: Mosaic table
Well, we made it, with difficulty. The tiles are heavier than the pine table itself!

Re: Mosaic table
Oh wow, this is beautiful! So glad you reused the table & added the mosaic. The sun & moon are terrific and dreamy and the way you echoed the blue on the edges adds a nice touch. And I like the Grecian design around the tabletop, it gives the whole thing a pleasant harmony.
This was definitely worth all of the work you put into it!

Re: Mosaic table
You know, I know everyone on here has differing viewpoints of God so I try to be sensitive to that, but I had to share this with you all in hopes that it encourages people, as the thought sure encouraged me! When I was reading Bookfox's note above, and looking at your incredible table again, it made me think, this is how we look in the hands of the creator. To others we might look like just another old piece of furniture, stripped, and broken, and seemingly worthless to others, but look at what it can be in the hands of a skilled craftsman who sees beauty that others may not see until the craftsman is done!

Thank you for sharing your art with us, it truly gives me hope that we can all be something beautiful in the hands of the creator, who has a greater vision of us than we can imagine.

Now that's true art! Thank you!!! Tossing heart (right)

Re: Mosaic table
Well, as a British artist, Andrew Hemmingway, said:- "If painting isn't about discovering new things, it becomes the equivalent of bricklaying." This is mosaic, not painting - but really, it's the same thing. Someone's junk is another's art!

Re: Mosaic table
Yes, that's a good quote! We can all find art, (and beauty,) in everything we do, everyday, if we are open to it! Still loving your table, so amazing!!!

Churchgoer, that is a lovely thought, what you said in your longer post. Well said.

Re: Mosaic table
God moved me that day. I'm so grateful that he welcomed me, even with all of my many faults, how lucky & preciously loved we truly are, and truly fortunate!
