Comments Re: Circular mosaic this time. really nice work, the concentric effect is great Posted at 20 Aug 2013 at 5:05AM by Jools Re: Circular mosaic this time. Ive looked at your work, very nice, some minor errors but over all very good stuff, you ask well whos this guy to critize my art, im no one other than ive set ceramic tile and marble for over 20 years and im very good at what I do, was wondering do you use a wet saw or tile nippers and a rub stone for your cuts, there are some small wet saws now that do a good job, tho most are just to expensive for home use. small mosaic tiles are hard to begin with and using tile nippers is a, well, hard job at best. a small saw would enable you to make some of those really small cuts. just my opinion and I do like what you do it is very pretty and you are very talented, thanks for sharing.. God blessw

I look forward to watching you mature in your art, it really is good, try using nippers, score your tile first with the glass cutter or even a tile board then use the nippers to chew a little at a time from your cut, careful tho tile is glass lol need I say that.

Posted at 21 Aug 2013 at 3:05PM by Dionysos Re: Circular mosaic this time. wheew!! I hear that im 62 retired from my tile business 8 yrs ago due to some nasty back problems brought on from doing what I love most, ive done some of the same things you are doing only mine have been on a some what grander scale, a sunken kitchen floor done in Saltillo and it had a boomerang shaped dinning bar we did with the broken pieces of Mexican Saltillo, was really nice whole tiles for place settings and they all had animal prints imbedded in the tile, dog, cats birds, the home owner was extremely happy with my design, had to be it cost her a bundle, lol if it can hold tile or marble id do it, I loved the business we, my partner and I did a lot of it, im from texas and we use a lot of Mexican tile there, God bless you, go for it!!!
Posted at 21 Aug 2013 at 3:32PM by garbear Re: Circular mosaic this time. I was a marketing director (Europe) of a San Fransisco computer accessories company, but had to pull out after a stroke. So now am living in Cyprus, in the hot sun, and mosaics in Cprus and Greece have been around since at least 3,000 years! So took a course on grouting, a four weeks course of three days, and gone from there.
Posted at 21 Aug 2013 at 4:59PM by Dionysos Re: Circular mosaic this time. But most people's idea of tiling here is about 10 euros for the tiles - WRONG - and about 10 euros for labour - WRONG AGAIN! So I now do them do my own pleasure, and a few for Christmas presents. I don't want to sell them for a few euros in the markets.

Posted at 2 May 2014 at 3:23PM by Callie Re: Circular mosaic this time. im the same about my work, I do old wooden tables, I restore the table so they are good and sturdy then invest a few bucks in tile and trim then after a 100 dollar investment or so turn around and sell it for at least a grand, the mosaic patterns are very good sellers but the pictures and stuff I make go to relatives ive done coffee tables in tile, mosaics and broken stuff!! your work shows you have a tremendous talent, I pray you have many years of your work, and for your own pleasure, God bless you
