My Favorite Flower

I have loved tulips all my life. My mom has told me that when I was two - three years old I called them "tune ups" and that I would cry when they would begin to drop their petals. She'd tell me that they are going to sleep and that they'd come next year. Ever the stubborn kid, it took a few years before I really believed her.
Taken April 2016.

Clouds at Sunset

My favorite location to take sunset pictures is at Lake Erie but, sometimes, it's possible to see a lovely sunset from my house. Taken March 2016.

Lighting the Sky on Fire

I was sure this day's visit to the beach would not include a viewable sunset because of how overcast it had been all day, but, I stuck around just in case. And I'm glad I did because I got the chance to see this beautiful sunset. Taken October 2015.

Where Am I Again?

The First Snow

If the first real snow of the year occurs early enough, this Japanese Maple shows off one last side to it's fall foliage. Against snow, it's red leaves become almost painfully brilliant red, even when the day is a dreary late fall day. Taken November 2016.

My Sister's Farm: Part 1

My sister bought a farm this fall. It's 53 acres, of which about 11 acres are wooded. This is a picture from the edge of the forest looking back towards her house and barn. Taken October 2016.

Delicious Dinner with a View

The Old Firehouse Winery is one of the places I like to eat when visiting Lake Erie. They've got a small Ferris wheel and the outdoor seating overlooks the lake. Taken August 2011.

Lunch for a Groundhog

You may see a lovely pot of impatiens and coleus; the ground hog living under my neighbor's deck sees a delicious meal. And a few days after I took this picture it reduced these plants to stubs that took over a month to grow back enough to begin blooming again. Taken July 2015.
