There's a new board in GoldToken town that players are going to love! This board, hosted by
Silkwood, gives players opportunities to be creative and give their profile page an uplift for the holidays. Yes, that's right. Holidays!
Every holiday there will be a contest for the Most Original Holiday profile and the
winner will be awarded a token for their for their creativity!
To enter one of the holiday contests, all you need to do is decorate your profile to the featured holiday posted on the board. Once you have done that, post on
Holiday Profile Contest and state that you would like yours to be entered in the voting poll and then voters will vote for their favorite. There are also links included on the board for you to learn more about decorating your profile page.

Reflections: I can't think of another turn based game site that offers more than GoldToken. GoldToken cares enough about their players to offer these discussion boards for your enjoyment and not only gives prizes but creates a graphic team to bring them to you. What other game site not only offers these but also cares enough for their players to create icons, banners for their players, banners in honor of passed members, the opportunities to own/join clubs, win memberships and create fun tournaments for all? Hi, I'm Karen aka
Candy Cane Kaz and I host 2 boards here at GoldToken. The first is
TerryS's Contest Announcements, where I run contests for special days during the year. You can win 3 amazing tokens for your profile if you answer all questions correctly. I have a lot of fun with this board and have learned so much doing research for the questions.
The second board I host is
Life Hacks. This board is so helpful for learning tips and tricks on how to make life a little bit easier and also a great way to get a fab new token for your profile - I'll post a topic and if your hack gets the most votes then you win a token. There will be plenty of topics throughout the year, so lots of chances to get a token...I'd also like to say if anyone has a hack topic they'd like featured they can message me with their idea and I'll use it on the board.
I'll end with a bit of GT advice! If you're thinking of setting some New Year Resolutions, why not make it a resolution to try a new game or game variant every month - you never know, you might just find your new favourite game!
December's winner is:
French Onion Soup
There are two essential components of a good French onion soup.
The first is the stock. Your soup will only be as good as the stock you are using. This soup traditionally is made with beef stock.
The second most important element is to properly caramelize the onions.
Ingredients
50g / 2oz butter
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Dash Worcester sauce
1kg / 2lb onions, thinly sliced
1 tsp sugar
4 garlic cloves, crushed and finely chopped
2 tbsp plain flour
250ml / 9 floz sherry (or dry white wine)
1.2l / 40 floz strongly-flavoured beef stock
(optional-To garnish) French bread & grated Emmental cheese.
Method
Melt the butter with the oil and Worcester sauce in a large heavy-based pan. Add the onions and briskly fry for a 1-2 mins, reduce heat put the lid and continue to cook for 8 mins or until soft. Sprinkle in the sugar and cook for 20 mins more, stirring frequently, until caramelised. Take care towards the end to ensure that they don’t burn.
Add the garlic for the final few mins of the onions’ cooking time, then sprinkle in the flour and stir well. Increase the heat and keep stirring as you gradually add the wine, followed by the hot stock. Cover and simmer for 15-20 mins.
(Optional) To serve, turn on the grill, and toast the bread. Ladle the soup into heatproof bowls. Put a slice or two of toast on top of the bowls of soup, and pile on the cheese. Grill until melted. Alternatively, you can complete the toasts under the grill, then serve them on top.

We had lots of fun in December at the
Pony Up! 
board, with Christmas tokens being won by all winners, including second place. We even had our own online Christmas party with
Badger being the guest of honor.
There were Christmas riddles, caption contest, funniest quotes, mini scavenger hunt for icons and guesses about what a strange guy was up to.
but it was figured out by one of our players.
All players are welcome to join in all the fun on the
Pony Up! board. Now is a good time to drop in and see all the fun and maybe win some tokens for your profile. A surprise I think all will welcome is coming in January!

- I was playing someone at iyt and they told me about GoldToken.(unknown photo)
- My nickname is because my father worked for Sundrop bottling company for over three decades and a lot of people called me the Sundrop kid
2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?
- Backgammon is my favorite game and main interest at GT.
3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?
- I currently live in Salem Arkansas there isn't much here in town for tourists other than the crazy tornado season.

So my late brother introduced me to GoldToken, back in 2003. We were both avid backgammon players and this was a great venue for us to play, since we lived in different cities. My favorite game by far is backgammon. I will also throw in some rummikub, fives and threes and some switch. I really enjoy the clubs and even started one myself, but it needs a little help
. I really am impressed with how GoldToken embraces a sense of community. You have a real opportunity to meet new people and establish friendships. When my brother introduced me to GoldToken he also introduced me to his friend here
Renekins. We have been amazing friends since then. We have never met in person, but chat everyday. She has been an inspiration for me. So I recently sold my franchise business and am trying to figure out the world of retirement.

With the start of a new year, there are some icons players have saved that need to be returned from lack of use. I will be sending out messages and letting players know what they have that need to be used or returned. It may take awhile, so please be patient and I will get to them.
The holiday icons that the graphic team have made for them (holiday hats for the occasion) are not counted as the total amount of icons a player has.
