• New Game - Oware!

There's a new variant of the Mancala game available! Check it out! The following additional rules apply for Oware:

• A move that would capture all the pieces belonging to the opponent is allowed, but no capture takes place.

• If the opponent has no available pieces, the other player is required to play a move that gives the opponent one or more stones to play with. If such a move is not possible, the player captures all his or per remaining stones and the game ends.

• If the game is in a stalemate, any player can propose a termination of the game. If the other player agrees, the game ends. This can only be done every 2 turns to avoid stalling.

Yes! This game is still active. For players who don't know, this Token is hidden on just one player's profile at a time. If you find it, send a PM to GoldToken Support to claim it. Sharing info about its location is not allowed. Additionally, the Token cannot volley back and forth between two players - someone else must claim it in between. Once a year, on a random date in December, the player holding it wins a prize.

Best Recipe Contest

July's winner is: Strawberry-Blueberry Cake

• Submitted by Gypsy

Topping
2 cups fresh sliced strawberries
z cups blueberries
8 oz. cool whip
Cake recipe

Cake
• 1 and 2/3 cups all-purpose flour,
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup butter, melted
• 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1 large egg, room temperature preferred
• 1 cup milk
• 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F
2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter in the microwave. Whisk in the sugars vigorously getting out any brown sugar lumps - mixture will be gritty. Whisk in egg, milk,and vanilla extract until combined. Slowly mix in dry ingredients until no lumps remain. Batter will be thick.
4. Pour/spoon batter into prepared pan. Make sure it's not overflowing-- this recipe makes enough batter for your deep dish pan. If you find there is too much batter, make a couple cupcakes (20 minutes bake time) on the side. Bake for at 40-48 minutes. Cover loosely with aluminum foil (loosely to avoid the top from sticking to the foil) at the 20 minute mark to avoid browning. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
5. After cake is completely cooled frost with cool whip. Then top with fresh fruit in pattern as desired. I usually place the fruit in flag pattern. Sometimes I just do in stripes alternating blueberries and strawberries leaving a strip with the cool whip between blueberries and strawberries

We would like to say to mystori . for letting us step into their personal life for a bit.


1. What brought you to GoldToken, and how'd you choose your name for GT?

• I had been playing on IYT and MamaBear introduced me to GT. I left IYT in the dust and have never looked back. My actual name is Victoria so my GT name is "Ms. Tori likes a good mystery and that's my story" ("Mys Tori" likes a good "mystori" and that's "my stori" - triple play for Mystori) [and, no, no one ever calls me Tori. lol]

2. What interests you most on GT? Do you have a favorite game?

• Favorite games are the word games, especially Grabble, Grabble Race, and Word A O'Rama; the shakes games, and Polar Poultry. That said, I'll play almost anything.

3. What state or country do you reside in? What do you think tourists should definitely see?

• New Hampshire, United States. New Hampshire has a lot to offer, but I recommend The Flume in Franconia Notch, the Old Man in the Mountain Memorial Park, and the Polar Caves.

4. What hobbies do you have?

• I dabble in various crafts. I enjoy scrapbooking and I crochet. I love to read. I like gardening. I enjoy cooking and baking when I have relaxed time to do it.

5. Children? Grandchildren?

• Three children, no grandchildren.

6. Do you work? What kind of work do/did you do?

• I work as a legal assistant/bookkeeper

7. Any pets?

• One cat

8. Are you under 30?___ 30 to 50? ___ or over 50? Male or Female?

• Female, over 50

9. What's the farthest you've been from home?

• Spain

10. If you could be anywhere right now, where would that be?

• A quiet beach with sunshine and a good . A very close second would be Ireland. I'd love to visit Ireland someday.

11. Favorite season?

• Summer

12. Favorite movie? Favorite TV show?

• I don't think I have a number one as there are just too many good ones out there. I do like classics: To Kill a Mockingbird, Harvey, Rebecca, Topper, Jane Eyre, etc. I like Notting Hill and The Family Stone. I also like the Harry Potter movies, the Hobbit series, Marvel movies, etc.; and Disney. Love Disney! I'm a little bit all over the place with movies. Same answer for TV. Just too many to choose from. I did just finish The Durrells though and loved it.

August's contest is the Best Nugget submitted throughout the month. All entries will be posted in a poll for voting, and the winner will be announced in next month's newsletter. Winner will receive two extra months on their current membership, or, if Guest, a two-month Silver membership.

Nuggets articles give all the players an opportunity to write various tutorials, strategy guides, and other materials related to playing each of our many games, as well as general information about out various site features. Once approved, the new Nugget article will be added to the appropriate category for all the players to see.
