At the end

This is just a short observation I’ve made while playing just about every type of Senet Goldtoken offers.

If you have fallen behind your opponent then it can be very tempting to try to knock your opponent’s pieces back to start. Doing so is the best way to catch-up; however, when your opponent is down to two pieces you will probably need to modify your strategy. Focusing on catching your opponent’s second to last piece can allow your opponent to move their last piece close to the end as well. If you are able to catch their second to last piece, sending it back to start, you are okay. However, if you fail to catch that piece then not only did they get that piece to safety, their last piece may be too close to the end to be caught.

Or to say it another way. Try to always keep one of your pieces close behind your opponent’s last piece. If it slowly gets inched up, inch your own piece to stay just behind it.

Nothing is more frustrating in any variant of Senet then suddenly noticing your opponent’s final piece is close to home and your pieces are all too far away to do anything about it.
