I failed to find African-American Straight Checkers listed in the first nugget posted.
It is played the same way as the GoldToken standard game of Checkers, called American Straight Checkers in the U.S. and English Draughts in the U.K., but with one difference.
A crowned piece is not a one-step king.
Rather, it is a sliding king that moves and jumps long, as in Pool Checkers and International Checkers.

One is always free to take to their advantage when capturing.
There is no requirement to capture the maximum number of opposing pieces.
It is a nice compromise between the standard game and Pool Checkers.
All three are popular games in the U.S.
